As many are aware, the amendments to the Condominium Act require condo corporations to file online returns with the Condominium Authority of Ontario (“CAO“). The first of these returns, the transitional return, is due on March 31, 2018.
On March 1, 2018, the CAO began e-mailing invitations to condo corporations allowing access to the condo returns online filing system.
If you haven’t already received your e-mail invitation and filed your transitional return, have no fear, some of our condo clients have shared their positive experiences filing the return.
For managers, here’s how you file the return:
- Log into the CAO website using your CAO assigned username and password;
- Once logged in, the CAO website lists the condo corporations registered under your username;
- Click the condo corporation you wish to file the return and follow the instructions.
Unlike many of the confusing mandatory forms, the transitional return is straightforward and user-friendly.
The registrar’s publicly available and searchable database is scheduled to be up and running by April 1, 2018 containing the information found in these returns.
If you’ve filed a transitional return or have any other comments about the amendments or forms, share them with us HERE!
