As we reported in a previous blog post, the Government of Ontario is proposing a new regulation under the Protecting Condominium Owners Act, 2015, which imposes mandatory training for all condominium directors. Director training/education is the responsibility of the newly created Condominium Authority of Ontario (“CAO”).
For the next two months, the CAO is offering free of charge four pilot on-line training modules covering the following topics:
- Module 1 – The Fundamentals of Condominium Living
- Module 2 – The Legal Framework Governing Condominiums
- Module 3 – The Role of Directors and Their Key Responsibilities
- Module 4 – Effective Leadership: Creating Strong Condominium Communities
Click here to access the modules.
The CAO is seeking feedback from participants on the pilot training modules to determine if the content of the modules is relevant, if the language is clear and easy to understand and if the modules are easy to navigate.
As these modules are only a pilot project, completion of these modules will not count towards the mandatory directory training. Details about the mandatory training program have not yet been released and will be posted on the CAO’s website in the future.
