The New York Times recently reported that a New York condominium building will be providing residents with a room adjacent to the lobby that will accommodate 50 baby strollers. Not only that, but the building will also offer valet service for the strollers so that residents can call first for their stroller and have it ready and waiting for them in the lobby. As the units in this building range from two to four bedroom units, this condominium will appeal to families with children.
For a long time, condominiums have been primarily occupied by adults: retirees, empty nesters and young professionals. As single family homes become more expensive and with many people not wanting to face long commutes from the suburbs, more families with children will be choosing to live in condominiums. As this demographic of condo purchasers grows, we expect that developers will respond by offering more units with multiple bedrooms and providing amenities geared specifically to residents with children.
