Overview: On October 1, 2020, regulatory changes under the Condominium Act, 1998 allowed for expansion of the jurisdiction of the Condominium Authority Tribunal (CAT). Prior to this date, the CAT was responsible for hearing unit owner and corporation disputes related to requests for records. Effective October, 1, 2020, the CAT can now hear disputes about provisions in the corporation’s declaration, bylaws or rules, specifically, pets and other animals; vehicles; parking and storage; and indemnification or compensation related to the items above.
CAI Canada presents three speakers who will discuss the implications of the expanded role of the CAT as well as the following questions and more. What is the impact on corporations and directors? What steps are involved with the added jurisdiction? Can costs be recovered? Do condo corporations need to involve legal counsel?
When: February 18 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Speakers:
Natalia Polis, Lash Condo Law
Shawn Pulver, Pulver on Condos
Keegan Ferreira, Director, Tribunal Operations and Vice-Chair
This is an excellent opportunity for condominium managers, management companies and directors to learn more about what the CAT has jurisdiction over.
